hi guys i was wondering what the big differences are between a 99 700 srx motor and a 2001 as i have a 01 sled that needs a motor and im looking at a 99 700 right now
As for compatability, the 99 SRX has a different stator and ignition system. I believe you can put the 01 stator and ignition coils on the 99 motor but not sure. Might have to modify things slightly. Also, the 99's had slightly different porting I believe and a few less horsepower. The carbs are jetted different on the 99's as well.

well the engine blew up twice in the season and it was after poor fuel both times whether that caused it i dunno but the crank needs rebuild one piston is cooked and cylinder is scored and the case is slightly cracked but could likely be welded up just fine thats about all thats wrong oh and had two pv's pull thru it could be rebuilt but i was kinda lookin for a quick fix just a drop in engine but not sure yet
One advantage to rebuilding is you'll know exactly what you have.

The 99 motor will take more welding/machining to accept an 01 stator than it will take to straighten your case out... you should be able to find an 00-02 motor or atleast the parts to fix yours from one of the parts guys in the classifieds section
