When engine is started it revs up normally and settles at about 3500rpm, after running the sled and getting everything warm it will settle down to a normal 800rpm or so. If I bump the throttle it will again rev up to 3500. I have cleaned the carbs and made sure they are in sync, linkage seems smooth with no hang-ups. Any ideas out there??? Help!

does it drop back down if you bumb the choke?
Did you get your pilot circuits clean? Did you test with spray cleaner to make sure the complete circuit is clear?
You can open you pilot screws and/or drop your idle speed.
The Viper idles high because it can. Without any load, it can idle up without much gas.

Them pilots can be a pain, I,m with Ding. How tight's your throttle cable? They need lots of slack.

Yeah it does...pulled everything apart again today. Cleaned jets again, found a cracked throttle/oil pump cable. $50. In the '04 it is all one cable unlike my buddy's '02 where they are seperate cables.Ix Josh9056 xI said:does it drop back down if you bumb the choke?

Throttle cable cracked right next to the nut that fastens the cable to the plate before it hooks to the actual throttle. thanks, $50 fix...sockeyerun said:Them pilots can be a pain, I,m with Ding. How tight's your throttle cable? They need lots of slack.
