I am just updating for the year and things do change from year to year.
I have all 5 sleds stock with stock carbs settings.
I did read and searched this. I found out you can drop the clip for better fuel mileage and blurbing...ect..ect...
I am wondering where is the safe limit with running these. Can you do all the same for each sled?
I ride in ny & pa
Here are the sleds
1. 03 SXVIPER E/R
2. 01 SXR 700 R
3. 00 SXR 700 E/R
4. 98 VMAX 700 xtc E/R
5. 97 VMAX 600 xtc E/R
Thanks for the help with this...

don't drop the needles on a viper at all, even if its stock. you'll burn it down for sure. many have drop the needles on the 700 red head engines, like in the vmaxs and sxrs and have noticed better throttle response and fuel mileage, but i wouldn't do it, as the fuel quality is going south rapidly each year. just leave it on the safe stock side.....IMO. my bros '98 xtc 600 doesn't seem to gurgle, but i haven't paid much attention. i would just leave the needles alone there too, as fellows on here have been talking about how the twin motors like to deto and blow up.

thanks for the info. I know I did drop the needles down 1 before but changed them back before the beginning of last year. I have them all stock but was hoping for cleaner hp to go with. I guess I will leave them all stock to be safe.
anyone else?

you want cleaner hp.....then pipe and port.....LOL.
just curious, why is everyone so worried about gas mileage on their sleds? they're just recreational toys. who cares about the mileage. the little bit you will save @ the pump by leaning out the needles 1/2 clip position or so, isn't worth what the cost is of a burn down and ruined weeked of riding.
