A bud of mine that I sled with called me the other day to ask if he could use my clutch puller bolt to lend a friend of his so he could remove his clutch from his 03 RX 1.Well of course I lent it to him and upon asking what type of work the other guy was doing to his clutch my bud tells me that the guy has a groove in the clutch, what part we're not sure, and he was sending it out to be machined smooth again. My bud and I were speculating that the groove is in one of the sheaves and was no doubt cause by an improper belt used or a piece of debris getting caught between the belt and sheave. This is only speculation as neither I or my bud has seen the clutch.Well I will be the first to admit I don't know much about a lot of things but one thing I do know is that if the groove is bad enough I certainly wouldn't be machining it out I'd be replacing the grooved part, especially on a 4 stroke sled. Can you imagine having a primary with a sheave machined thinner on one of these torque monsters? To me this is a clutch explosion waiting to happen and I told my bud to tell this other guy,and I'm not the first one to do so,not to do it replace the defective part.
