76, srx pipes

hi, I have a question, whats the difference between 76 and 79 pipes. is there diference in the pipes or in the silencer box?or both most likely.the expantion chamber/ pipes are already compleatly hollow right?I was going to clean out my silencer box today but there already nothing but streight through pipping with only a second perferated pipe in side no baffels.I am looking for 76 pipes for my 79 srx but wheres the difference. any part # to go by?can I get rid of my silencer box? would I need some extentions for back presure and drop the pipe size.serching for options.dose anyone have a set of 76 pipes? Have 44mm carbs. also I have 3 sets of 8jo heads and want to shave a set to the 8g9 specs , have a good friend that can do it for me.what kinde of #s am I looking at?.010, .020 more?I think you said the 8g9 heads were 5cc smaller or was it more? we can also cc them.thanks, rob.

All years of the silencer box are the same. All you need to find is the pipes. Run them with big carbs, they make an incredible difference.

BIG DFFERENCE IN PIPES. NOT SILENCER. IF YOU RUN 76 SRX PIPES, YOU WILL NEED TO REJET, RECLUTCH, AND HAVE PORT WORK. THESE PIPES MADE POWER AT 9500, UNLIKE 78-79-80 PIPES THAT RAN AT 8800-9000. THEY WERE TOTALLY DEFFERENT, ALTHOUGH LOOK ALIKE TO FAST EYE, MORE YOU LOOK, YOU CAN TELL. ESPECIALLY AT NECKS AND END. 3:16 (yammie tony)

If you cut the intake and put 76 carbs and heads on a 79-80 with 76 pipes you will have the same perf as a 76 440. It will make app 85 HP at 9,000 RPM and if you cut the heads you will get more like 90.
