Just picked up a SS440. Not exactly what year it is. It is supposed to have a sleeper motor in it. Supposedly the motor was built up by Delaugter. But who knows. The motor serial number is 87K-000286. What is this year and size of this motor.

Thanks Tony. One more question what year is the 8U3- 00468 SS 440. Thanks again and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

THATS A 1983 SS440. HEY LOVE YOUR EXCITER SX. WHISH I HAD THE MONEY, ANYWHAY QUESTION, THAT RACE BOX YOU HAD FOR A 2000 SRX, WAS THAT FOR A STOCKER OR HIGH RPM. AND IF YOU CAN, WHO BOUGHT IT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

The box was a stock box reprogrammed by Bender. I was told it advance the timing and raised rev limit. I never got a chance to use it. I assumed it was for a stocker. I don't remember who I traded it off to. I see fordsrx has a 2000 cpr box for sale. I think I am going to keep the Exciter for at least another year. Sold some of my motorcycles and couple sleds so I have the room for it for now. These SX II run real strong. Keep me posted on how you make out with your clutching.

IAM REALLY WAITING TO FIELD TEST MY CLUTCH SET-UP FOR THE EXCITER SX. OF CORSE ON SNOW. I RAN IT ABOUT 300 FT ON GRASS AND IT WILL RATTLE YOUR TEETH. SO SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO. I,LL LET YA KNOW. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I found markings on the cylinders 535cc 8H800 are these from an SRV. The motor has a Kiehn carb and intake has a 8L0 stamped on it. Just wondering if this is a stock motor. Haven't messed with these fan cooled sleds from the 80's much.

PREFIX- 8H8 IS 1979 EXCEL V
PREFIX- 8L0 IS 1980 SRV
THIS SOUNDS LIKE MOTOR SWAP FROM SS440 TO LARGER CC 535. WHICH IS COOL IF ITS DONE RIGHT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Hopefully I will find out soon enoughhow the SS run's. I will have it tommorrow morning for sure. Just picked up another 440 Trail Twister today. By time I got home we around 3 inches of snow on the ground. I got to take for a few rip's up and down the field.. Kind of forgot how strong those fan cooled Kohlers are.

Ended up with 6 inches of snow . Got to take out the SS today. You were right Tony it rips. I was running it against a stock 91 Exciter and it pulled harder in mid range and top end. I don't know if any other engine work has been done, but it will really surprise some people. Clutching is right on also. The Merc Trail Twister I just picked up pulls real hard also. I would like to line the 2 up. The SS should come out on top. They both have the same 1/2 lug style track with no studs.
