hey i was told by someone on here that a 98 srx 700 crank was different from a 2001 but when i went on the hauck site and looked up the parts its the same part number for both shafts does anyone know which is right? are they the same?

the shafts are the same but the pto bearing is different. maybe the hauck ones don't come with the pto brg.

so could the shaft still be used in a 01 engine or atleast with an 01 stator and flywheel

yup, you just need to use the 01 pto bearing for the 01 case or the 98 brg for the 98 case.
