I'm the proud owner of a 1998 SRX700. I want to go quicker. (big mouth neighbour has a ZR900). I know I won't beat him, but I want to keep it close. Races will be on the ice (I live on Lake Erie) 500ft. in length. Sled has VForce reeds, exhaust stingers, and Hauck clutch (owner didn't know specs or how clutch was set up). Also has adjustable transfer rods. So I need to know:
Gearing
Clutching
And anything else you can think of to make this a more competitive race. Next year I'll go big-bore.
Thanks for all replies!! ~R

For 500 ft you would probuly want around a 2:1 gearing.Maybe even a little lower.A 20 tooth top and 40 tooth bottom gear would work with your 68 link chain. For clutching Heel clickers i think would work best or that distance. You will also need lots of studs.Somewhere around 240 would work good.192 at the minimium.Where abouts you live on Lake Erie?
