PZ485 topend on GP433 bottomend?

From what I've been told, you have to have the top of the Exciter case fly-cut to accept the Phazer jugs bigger bore. Have fun. G.

Cool!!! I thought I came across that idea on TY awhile back and its always stuck in my head. Last Feb i lost my 86phazer to a train and the topend is about the only pieces left. I really loved that sled and it never let me down. I want to keep a part of it alive!

heres mine. 79 exciter, 88 phazer cylinders, vmax 500 carbs, srx air box. the phazer heads are a bad design. i sent the exciter heads out and had them machined to phazer bore.

if you want single carb get intake manifold/carb from SS 440

that is sweet! I had a 78ex340 for snox last winter, it was awesome! I wanna build a little better sleeper for this season. what pipe did you fit? I have some Mikuni 34mm carbs with cable and throttle already that ill use, just need to jet them. I also have some Keihin 39's from a xc600 but don't know if that would work.

What do you mean by "Bad Design"? Can you explain, I have dibs on a basically new 485 with 43 Klicks on it. I've got some neat ideas of what to do with the mill, but anything I need to know to wake it up is certainly welcome. G.

VIN YAMMY: im using a PSI phazer pipe that i had to cut about 1.5" off the headpipe to fit the exciter chassis. this will raise my peak HP about 1000RPM

GORKO: the phazer engine has around .090" squish this is way too much to make any kind of performance. if you mill the heads to decrease the squish then the combustion chamber isnt right and would have to be reshaped. also, the rearward facing sparkplugs interfear with the cooling shrouds and wont fit. you could cut the shroud where the sparkplugs go or reweld the sparkplug holes, drill and retap. i just sent the exciter heads out and had them reshaped to 72mm (much easier). the best design would have the sprkplugs right in the center strait up but i wanter a factory look. the cooling fins will need to be trimmed on both the cylinders and phazer heads to fit in the exciter cooling shrouds. the exciter heads obviously wont need to be trimmed at all....hope this helps.

I am in the process of reworking the stock exciter heads right now, welded the spark plug hole, centered the plug for squish rework. Full race ported with vmax flat slides, aaen lake racer pipes. Shooting for 90ish horsepower with all the cooling tins on and fan cooled. The dyno will soon tell the story.

Yes to get the compression where it needs to be , the stock heads are very limited and NEED WORK.

you should see 90HP with that set up.....no problem. ive got basically the same setup in a different sled (in my avatar) only im using wiseco cut pistons, and GPX heads cut to 72mm around and 170psi. minus the couple of HP im saving not running a cooling fan and AAEN pipe should be around 90.

let me know on the dyno results...

forgot, if you havent already done it. the phazer uses a different y-pipe mounting bolt pattern and you might want to drill and tap the two inner bolts on the phazer cylinders to exciter/SRX/GPX/AAEN exhaust pattern. thare is plenty of room for this...

I am running exciter cylinders on mine.... the whole idea is to squeeze out as much as I can from the EX stuff... hope to get it on the dyno in the coming weeks.

wHAT kinda RPM's you guys spinning your moto's! I've had the GP/EX fan fly apart more than once!!!

Guess I have been lucky , mine is running about 85-8800 rpms but should be more.. still no time to dyno yet, my engine guy is getting ready for eagle river. I may have to forgo the dyno for this year again but we will see.

What RPMs did your fan blade separate? I have thought of cutting every other blade to put less stress on it , depending ...

it was right in the mid 8's. the first two came apart pretty quick and the third one i put on i just shyed away from WFO for long runs. It was probably just a fluke. old and brittle. but kinda wondering how tight guys have spooled these old yammies.
