Hey guys, I found a 1997 Crankcase for my 2002 Mountain Max however the part number is slightly different, anyone know what the differences would be or if it will work ok??

The 98 and up cases have an update for the better crank bearing. If you get the 97 case you will want to do the upgrade. i have not had an issue with my 97 700sx but there is the upgrade that you would do even if your sled was a 97 while its all apart. Do a search you should find lots of info.

What is this Mod called, I tried to search for Crank Case Mod and found nothing on the subject?
It has to do with the outer crank bearing. The case from a 97 will have to be machined in order to accept the 98+ bearing. I'm not exactly sure what its called. And I've also had good luck running the 97 style, in fact when I rebuilt the motor I ordered a new 97 style bearing and didn't mod the case.
