I ran my PI end dumps at 1100 to 1150 all day long But I set mine off of plug and piston wash checks. What worked for me may be a melt down for you. Maxdlx

You're measuring the exhaust stream temp not the underhood or pipe skin temp thus the hood sees temps much colder than the exhaust stream.
I thought the melting point of aluminum was closer to 1350 F. but the temp you're seeing on your EGT probably isn't what the combustion temps are.
You need to determine with plug and piston wash readings what your ideal EGT temp should be. Get the jetting right based on piston wash and whatever your EGT reads will be your target.

You should always verify jetting by piston wash & plug colour, when that checks out ok (for the temperature) then correspond with EGT's. It is the only safe way then relying on just EGT.
