Would like to know if there is and good gains from shaving the heads on a 98 SRX, if so can I still keep it strong and reliable, I don't want to be building a new moter every season....like a T-cat :2strokes:

Just shaving the head surface area alone is not going to net you much of a gain in HP/performance. To show any real performance gains you have to combine porting, cyl head mods, intake, jetting, gearing, + of course clutching changes...it all has to be a compatible package. If you just cut the heads you could end up with a sled that will be very fussy on fuel octane and not show any noticeable performance gains.
IMO...either do it all or just spend your money on clutching improvements...that will keep it reliable and fast.

Hay sideshowbob, were do you do most of your riding in NWO, are you near Kenora? what type of clutching would you sudjest for trail/ lake :2strokes:

We primarily ride between Dryden, Vermillion Bay, Kenora, Souix Narrows, Ignace, Souix Lookout, Ignace, Red Lake.
I use Heavy Hitters with a Team Secondary on a ported, Aaen piped, 144" 2002 SRX so my clutching would not be relavant to most other SRXs.
Turk has some very good clutching recommendations that are applicable to stock SRXs, just do a search at the top right of the page or go to Ty Home - Snow mobile tech-clutch tuning jetting then look under Turks recommendations...all great stuff!

SRX squish/ compression is already great, leave it alone it's hard enough to find good prem to run a stock srx on without having detonation
