My sled is a 2003 Mnt Viper.....
I want to replace the crappy rear center shock. Any body with a 2003 Mnt Viper ever replaced that one before????? Or anybody know if what, if any shocks aftermarket it can be replaced with?

Have you talked with Hartman Inc.?I believe he carries Works shocks and can give some guideance on what would be the best way to go.
I have Mike Carver looking for some, and he sort of at a loss....
Will standard Viper Center shock work? Are they same size? With modification could an Ohlins from a standard '04 Viper fit, for instance, with modification for travel, etc.?? Any ideas on that at all???
I'm just looking for size and shock travel measurements and advice on whether anybody knows if anything could fit or work.
Thanks!
Mike

Isn't that just a regular 11.5" proaction skid? If so anything that fits a short tracker will work.

If I may make a suggestion, why not have the rear shocks revalved, had mine done and the ride and performance difference is quite noticable. I learned about this when I was going to change mine also and it was suggested I just have the shocks revalved. Cost was about 20 bucks a shock, plus recharge of course. I am happy with them now..
I'm a believer that anything can be made to fit, but we should figure out the lengths of both of them. Assuming that the extended and collapsed lengths are similar it would just be a matter of making it work. It was for a polaris skid, but I ended up going a different direction and never used it. All I have is the center one. Someone on here or snowest had a float in the rear of their proaction too. I think that they did a little fab work, but if I remember right it was a pretty easy switch.

For some reason Yamaha installed a steel, non rebuildable center shock on the Mnt Vipers, different than regular Vipers in that regard.
Mr. Carver is going to look into revalving/rebuilding the shock, but doesn't think it can be done.....
Does anybody know lengths of: (1) Mnt Viper shocks, (2) standard Viper shocks???
Lengths eye center to eye center and travel distance for each shock.....

I'll pull some measurements off it and see if it's something that you think you can use. I was a new take off when I got and I've never put it in a skid.

Anyone!!!!!
Alright....
I've heard the eyelets are 11.5" inches apart, and also that they are 13.5" apart on the rear shock for all Viper models. What I do know is that all Vipers had the same length shocks, just not sure if was 11.5" or 13.5"!
Also, some had steel non-rebuildable rear shocks, some had aluminum rebuildable ones, depending on the model and the year of the Viper.
Oh, anybody know the travel distances or shock rates between the two?
Talk about confusing!

if i were to make a wild guess the 13.5 is probably fully extended and 11.5 at ride height, 2 inches of set in would be about right
