Hey guys its me again. My Phazer it acting up on me. It wont go over 30 mph. I've had this problem in the past and idk what to do. I was told to re-align my motor mounts so my clutches could be lined up. I took it out the other day and it ran great. But then it ran out of gas. Could this be a fuel problem or a clutch problem. The snow is here and I want to play in it. Thanks guys.

This could be a lot of things. But if it ran good at first and now won't, I'd be cleaning the carbs for good measure. G.

I cleaned before the snow fell. One thing I remembered was it ran great before it ran out of gas. When I put some in it last night, i ran into my problem that I described.

Plugged filter or carb pulling junk off bottom of tank?

thats a possibility. I replaced the fuel filter last winter. But then again it wouldn't make sense if it runs great when its almost out of gas. I have brand new fuel lines on it too.

I have experienced similar problems, then picked it all apart again to find a piece of crud in there. Cleaned that out and everything was fine. Don't know where it came from, but there it was. Other than that, I am at a loss, some of the more experienced guys on here may be able to assist you. Good luck. G.

I'm thinking about taking the carbs out and cleaning them out again, and then taking the whole gas tank out and rinse it out.

New to this forum but have been messin with "OLD" sleds for a while. I would say to pull the carbs and clean them. I bought my Phazer this past spring and had to pull mine apart 5 times to get them right after a "pro" had cleaned and rebuilt. One of the times I took it apart the pivot pin for the float came out of one side of the mount and was flooding that carb to beat heck. It must have wiggled out while I was moveing them around to get em back in. Also there has been stuff coming outta the tank too. Mine is an 84 so it is 25 years old know and God only knows what it has been thru and what it has had done to it.
Hope this helps!
Later,
Kenny

Yeah Kenny that does help. I took the carbs out and cleaned them really good. I'm going to put them back in hopefully today.

Well guys I figured out my problem, well almost. It still bogs off the start a bit. I've put bigger pilot and main jets in it so i might just have to tinker with it again. But my main problem was my chaincase. at the very bottom of it, I discovered a huge hole. Last year while riding it, I heard a pop but didn't think anything of it. what I think happen was the jackshaft bearing got so hot that it blew up and sent bearings everywhere. And with me still riding on it, it got caught on the tensioner gear and ca-boom. i have still not found whats left of that gear. I'll try to put some pics up of it. its really something to look at, i've never seen it before.

The bigger pilot will make it bog off the start. You might want to change that back..if its worse than it was before.

The bigger main may be OK...the fan /pipe design needs more fuel than it should... that engine runs better with plenty of fuel.

My 99 is the same...runs better on the fat side.

Yeah mine does the same thing too. Almost a little scary how much it wants to take off. Thanks for the help. its much appreciated.
