i just got a email from hardcoresledder and in it was an article about the 2010 apex they nothingbad to say except it was near it end in production. they said they might be off a year or two but they stand behind opinion. basing it on monies spent to develop the nytro platform and that the apex is just about perfected and that yamaha usually pulls the plug when they get to that point. does anyone else think we are in for a change. and do you think it would be a good one basing it all on the nytro platform, my self haven't rode the new platform but i think it would be lacking in comfort from the cold, as the phazer appears to. i own the old nytro chassis and even that with a mid height rx-1 screen is brutal on some days.

i think that yamaha well put the new R1 motor into the apex replacement with the uneven firing order and 4 valve head. the bike makes more torque than the older R1 motor that the apex is based off of. the only other thing that yamaha needs to and is capable of doing is cutting a bunch of weight from the sleds.

Hardcoresledder's thinking kind of goes a long with what my Yamaha dealer is thinking... Yamaha isnt making a lot of extra sleds this winter, making dealers sell off leftover stock, they did the same thing when they came out with the 4strokes.
Ok, we all agree yamaha makes the highest quality machine on the snow. How much technology can the sled market afford? More and more advanced machines are going to cost. Who's going to buy an 18000 dollar snowmobile? What do you guys think?

To me its a fine line that all the manufactures are walking between being high tech and too expensive.

it seems like every year a rumor starts saying stuff like that but yamaha never shocked us in awhile now so hopefully this is their year to blow away the competition

The only thing that would shock me is if they brought us back a 2-stroke or two.

I said it before and will say it again. If Yamaha would come up with a 4 stroke sled that bears the name SRX on it with exceptional features and power to weight ratio..it would sell like hotcakes. When the 98's came out..they sold a ton of them.
200 HP would be cool.

on another note....$$$$$ could be an issue. Prices are way out of reach for most...and with winters lately being crumby...good luck.
