A guy on ebay is selling a 600 red head cylinder head he claims he had on a 700 triple. Has anybody heard of this? What would the comp. be?

He may have done this but I don't recommend... If you want to bump your compression you have a couple of choices, you can either remove a layer of your head gasket, or have your head machined down by .10-.020", or go the expensive route of purchasing a head that has interchangable domes. You really don't want to go above 150 and the compression as you will have to ensure that you have premium fuel inthe tank at all times or you will risk a burndown. If where you ride you know for a fact that you can always get quality fuel then the choice is yours.

The reason why I dont recommend installing a 600 head on a 700 is the bore size is different between the two motors and the lip from the 600 head will overhang into the bore on the 700 and will possibly crash into the piston or cause problems with the squish band.

there is an easy mod in the Tech Section with a new gasket and the 700 head. I would peel the head gasket. Much safer and cheaper then buying a new head. With the squish band being smaller in the 600 head, you might run into problems with detonation.
