Srx track / drive shaft question

Put a used camoplast on a '99 srx 700 late last year(quite a job), now this year my drive shaft goes. Could something on the track change caused the drive shaft to go? Don't want to make the same mistake twice. Also, the track I put on had a clip every third window since every third window was in Should I rethink this and put a fully clipped track on?

It seems like the later model shafts were beefed up to eliminate this problem.If it was me I'd see if I could find a newer style shaft.Also once in a while I've heard of sleds breaking that shaft if the track was too tight.
