I was just wondering if the Vipers are as prone to pull outs on the valves when not serviced properly as the SRX's.I don't see as many posts on here about them needing repair as I do about the SRX valves and wondered if it is a design thing or what? Both valves look very similar and no doubt have the same manufacturer.I was just curious.

I believe yamaha impoved the metal by the viper years because of all the SRX truble,if you buy a new valve today it should...be of better quality (stronger)and have less pull outs.

yes the quality was changed ...but still no better than old ones i have been doing viper valves new style and old style...the metal seems to be a bit more strong on new style ...i can tell when i turn them on the lathe ..

Hi Ive got a 98 srx 700. I just noticed the pv are leaking and was wondering if anyone could tell me if this would cause power loss. My buddy has a 94 600 vmax all stock and beat me 4 out of 4 times. Sled seems to be running great other than the oil coming from the pv and middle pipe. Thanks Rick

WOw you got some serious problems then,,and more then some leaking oil out a bad PV seal. no it would not.

is it even running on all three?

Just checked the compression on all 3 cylinders. Was 120 mag side, 118 in the center, and 118 clutch side. Can anyone tell me what the compression should be, I'm guessing between 130 to 140. I just put the bottom end out of a 99 srx 700 in it but didnt change rings when I put it back together. Thinking I should have lol

thats lil low...how is the sled clutched? how does it run,you got issues sorry to say if a 60-70ish HP sled is spanking your 138 HP sled, lol
