Hey all,
I bought some new graphite slides for my 03 Viper this weekend.
Is there an easy way to change these on the Viper? I did them on my old Phazer, but the track windows on the stock track on the Viper look too small to get the slides through.
Any advice?

they should fit through the window,,if not pull skid, that way you can service any bushings that are probably wore out.
i had the same problem. Not sure why they don't fit through the windows, but just greese them up good and use alittle elbow grease. If they will not go, i heard of people cutting one window a bit wider with a knife so they will fit and always use this same window when you have to change again in the future.

They fit through just FINE!!!.. I usually tie my rear tube to the rafters of the garage and lift the back of the sled about 4 feet in the iar and then I stick an air chizel through one of the windows and BLAST them off ( after I pull the screw!!! ) I put them back on with SPRAY SILICONE or LUBE ZALL (from yamaha) and they aren't a problem!!! It takes about 15 or 20 minutes from start to finish!!!
I've heard if you have reverse you pull the sliders about two inches thru the window on fire up the sled and then give it a short burp of the throttle while in reverse and the sliders will peel right out. Have not seen this trick but sounds like it could be fun.
If I still partied,,, I'd LIKE to party with YOU!!!! Yeah,, it works WELL,, just Don't blurp it too hard!!!!stein700sx said:I've heard if you have reverse you pull the sliders about two inches thru the window on fire up the sled and then give it a short burp of the throttle while in reverse and the sliders will peel right out. LMAO... "it could be fun"... my SRX's suspension got the S$%T beat out of it last year when I put the 1.875" lug track in it, eventually one of the sliders peeled themselves off the rails and wrapped up into the suspension, luckily i was just running the sled back and forth to work (1.2 miles)... pulled the proaction out and put the Edge skid in...
The 1 1/4" predator track on my 136" VMAX4 has pretty narrow windows.
When I last changed the sliders on this sled I took my dremil with a sanding drum and widened two windows on the same bar so I could use them for slide changes.
That track has stood up without issues so far.
For future slide changes all I have to do is rotate the track until the widened windows match up with the rear of the sliders.

X2, just cut the windows the little bit that's needed to remove them. Also, you can offset each widened window 180* if you are that worried about it.
If you don't have reverse, you could peel the front of the slider off(after removing screw) and stick it through the window, and give it a quick hit on the throttle.

they will fit through the window but is a tight fit.
Also, I always dump some oil inside the groove of the new ones so they come off easier.

X2 on that, a little oil on the slides makes things alot easier the following season.
