Pulled the clutches off the SRX to clean em up and see what I had. Primary clutch had orange/redish spring(no markings) w/ 8DN-20 weights. Are these aftermarket weights? 8DN sounds like a Yamaha number but ive never seen factory weights with bolts in them.

Secondary has a Hauck helix. Any way to tell what the specs are on the helix? The spring is on the #2 hole on the bottom.

Is this a good baseline clutch setup or is it way off? Sled is a 00 SRX 700, stock engine. Stock gearing. .920" track w/ 144 studs. Ride 90% groomed trails. I weigh 210-220lbs. Ive never ridden this sled so im not sure what max rpm it runs at.

Bought it from a guy in Lewiston, cant remeber his name. Id seen the SRX in your avatar and was gonna ask you but i figured maybe the light was playing tricks with my eyes and it was a stock hood. Did you paint the hood or did someone before you?

i'm about positive thats my old sled, that clutch setup worked good, the bolts are just easier to tune than rivets, yamaha weights. can't remember what helix that was anymore, i sold that sled four years ago, but it worked pretty good from what i remember. and yes my hood was painted by the previous owner, it has alot of copper pearl in it so at some angles it matches the plastic good and others it looks like $%#t, so i'm going to repaint as part of my build. i'm hoping to be done by mid jan. but stuff keeps preventing me from working on it, so we'll see

Yeh the hood is a love/hate relationship LOL Like you said, if you stand in the right spot it looks amazing, move 2 inches to the right....looks like crap. Ill take some pics of it tonight. Glad to hear the clutching worked decent. Guess ill just clean it up and see how it goes.

r u saying your hood looks painted? the one in my sig is my current sled. when i got rid of the one i suspect you have the hood was stock with stock decals. but anything could of happened in 4 yrs. there arent too many srx's in the area let alone ones with the exact clutches i had so it must be the same sled, must of got painted later, i lost track of it 2 owners after me, also judging by those pics i'd say it spent some time outdoors since i got rid of it, that sled used to be spotless

Yes, the hood on the sled that I own now has been repainted. Its the chameleon style paint that changes colors depending on the light/angle. I think this was a back up sled for the guy that I bought it off, so it wasnt taken care of very well. Im getting it back into shape though, it was terrible when I first got it.
