Here is something that I don't see talked allot about. When should we change our stock air filter? I realize it's just a crude foam and should last a long time but when do you guys change it?
Mine is stock on my 2000 I think my mileage is around 12000km (7500miles). I took it out and its hard to gauge since its black. The foam seems dry/rigid a bit but since I never touched a new one I don't know if its age or normal.

Unless it's falling apart you shouldn't have to,there nothing to filter out in the winter,no dirt,it's to prevent snow ingestion not filter dirt/dust it's not that type filter.

I would hate to see the rest of your sleds if you are needing to wash out the snow dust filters.. Stay out of the dirt.

When I clean mine its because I have been in the fields and I have small peaces of hay on top of the filter. Not mud. I doubt the other guys have dirt.

Just wash it with dish soap and water.
