Hey sideshowBob, quick question for you. I think the SRX is a bit wide over the seat and tank, especially with the stock seat, but does the Boss-seat reduce that feeling or does it still feel wide? Or maybe I've just got short legs

I have not riden it yet with the new Boss seat, but it is definately more narrow at the top especially where it extends over the tank...almost right to the gas cap. It allows you to have something to sit on when you are up over the tank.

Thanks for your quick response! I was just about to order a seat for myself, but they ran out two days before I got my salary
So I went for a Viperseat instead, works good so far!

I had a Viper seat with a clear lense LED tail light on my SRX up until this fall...worked great!...Heres a picture.

I put the new boss seat on this year. It is very stiff, i hope it breaks in. If not, it will be challanging on those rough trail rides....

On the subject of width, I see there is no padding extending down past the edge of the tunnel on the Boss.
I really liked the extended padding on my XCR compared to my old Indy when hanging off during tight cornering. Which was one amongst the many reasons I bought my SRX. My feet rarely leave the footwells so I end up riding the tank a lot but I still notice the padding when cornering.
Have you noticed any issues with the lack of padding or is it that with the higher seat your riding stance changes that much?
I have ensured that I can switch back + forth between the Boss + Viper seats as I expect the ride height of the Boss will not be best for long distance, high speed cornering type riding, the Viper seat worked very well on my SRX for that. But for off trail + ungroomed trail riding I expect the Boss to shine.
I will know better after a month or so ....I usually ride 2000 - 3000 miles each season.

How is the Boss seat mounted? Is it just mounted in the same holes as the stock seat or..?

LOL!! I shud be getting commision from Boss! LOL!
In the picture its just sitting on the tunnel, I had not done the installation yet.
Mounting:
-the Boss seat does not use any of the stock Yamaha seat mounting hardware
-seat has loop at front that goes around fuel filler - under gas cap
-lower front edge of seat snaps to tunnel - had to mount a new snap on each side of tunnel[ I now have 3 per side]
-seat underside has wide velcro strips and you attach velcro[comes with seat] to top of tunnel
Once mounted it is very secure yet easy to remove.
The Boss Flat Top seat does not have a tail light...I mounted a Nitro XT led tail light on the tunnel...I will update some pictures when I roll it out hopefully this week.

Loads of thanks
However, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Boss seat come with an optional tail light?
