I see alot of mountain riders use the lightweight trailing arms, probaly mostly for weight savings. Was wondering if they are strong enough to withstand the abuse from trail riding and mogals. I have bent the stock ones 6 times in the 10 years I've owned vipers and SX's. I like the replacable shafts and the weight savings is just a bonus. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

We have over 50 of our trailing arms out on the trail today and have yet to have a call back about a broken trailing arm. Everyone of our aluminum parts are heat treated. The design of our trailing arms have an oval type shape which increases strength dramatically. Another thing about our heat treated aluminum trailing arms are there memory from impacts. They are able to give similar to a spring and go right back to normal position. They drop nearly 7 pounds off the front suspension and come polished to a mirror. Might be worth a shot if you are interested.

I have had these on my SXs for 5 years and my SRX for 3 years. I have not had any quality or strength issues with these arms.

Brand: Mountain Performance
Weight: 1.5 to 2 lbs lighter then stock each[pretty well 4lbs total] I weigh everything!

I did bend the SRXs up a bit 2 years ago when I was passing a [Con]Fusion 900 over a blind hill and landed 100s+++ of feet down the other side VERY HARD!!![one of the many reasons I have earned the nick name "sideshow"!] LOL
When I got home I used a rubber mallet and banged them back and have not had any further issues.

mpi arms

I've got a set of those I've been running for years now. MN riding and some mountain time. I bowed one of them a little when I tagged a culvert guard thingy a couple years ago, but not enough to bother anything. Went from 30 to 0 in snap. Once I picked myself up from in front of my sled I was surprised that it wasn't pretzel shaped. I'd buy another set if I was looking for trailing arms.

Thanks guys! Sounds like I'll be buying some this year. Is $550 for both or just one. Do they have the replaceable shafts?

The 550 is for both trailing arms. The shafts are not replaceable but if you have issues with one we can help you out. They look like this...

So that includes the spindle... and steering arm?

Hmmm.

dont get your hopes up for any from mountain performance. they dont make them or the replacement tubes anymore. and they owe me a set of chromoly replacement tubes that i will never see. for those that have the mpi arms and need replacement chromoly tubes, i am working on a similar looking replacement, but a cleaner setup.

i will do that, sad part is i have their product on four sleds, and if i was to take out a tube, i am without. been promised the tubes for over a year from mpi as i ordered and paid for chromoly tubes and they sent aluminum tubes because they did have the chromoly and i caught them on it. those that have the mpi heads, i am having some tube ends fabricated and they will recieve your heim joints. the taper will only be about 1", verses the 2 1/2" on the mpi arms. this should reduce weight and add strength having more tube and less taper. look at your arms and you will see what i mean. got 4 tubes ready for the lathe, but these are for me. once i get the pattern and fit down, i should be able to make these more affordable, hinging on the material cost.

Do the MPI trailing arms allow you to use the sway bars? Or do you have to remove the sway bar when running these trailing arms. I was considering the MPI's but don't want to loose the cornering ability by having to remove my sway bars.

Thanks.

All the stock hardware mounts are there, including the sway bar. You can no longer get these or their parts from Mountain Perf...have to find them used.

Its a long shot but is there anyone out there selling theres used, or has anyone made there own versions yet for sale. very interested.
