I did a search but couldn't really find anything. I am trying to sync my carbs together but I can't figure out how to adjust them. I am new to carb teardowns so if you have any pics for reference it would be appreciated. I was also wondering about the clips I hear people adjusting to lean out or richen up. Where are they locaated and how do you move them. Thanks Jason

Jason,
If you remove the covers off the tops of the carburetors there is an eccentric cam nut that will adjust only one carburetor to match the opening of the other carburetor.
Also when you look down into the inside of the carburetors when you take the tops off the needles are under the attachment the actuates the slide valve. You'll see two small socket head cap screws (allen screws) that will need to be removed to get to the needles. This is kind of a tedious job to adjust these as you need to work VERY CAREFULLY not to drop any of the small screws into the belly pan. Tracy

Are these guys just sunk visually (matching the slide height), or is there a vacuum gauge some how involved. I just cleaned my carbs tonight and didn't see a threaded port to attach a vacuum hose barb (thinking of cycle carb syncing). I suppose a manual would help answer this...

Edit to add: The clips are on the needles. Remove the needle from the slide as Tracy noted. The needle fits in a hole within the slide, they are kept from falling through the slide by the clip. The needles on the 96 Vmax have 3 clip positions. Moving the clip to the bottom most position will effectively raise the needle allowing more fuel to flow through the main jet (enrichment). Having the clip in the top position will lower the needle and reduce fuel flow through the main jet.

Ou could visually check these if you have an eye for detail. or you could use a drill bit to gauge the height on one and double check the height on the other. As long as they're really close I wouldn't worry, as they dont have to be spot on. Ex: If one side has an 1/8" gap and the other is shut I would adjust so both are @1/8" gap. Tracy

yeah I took some advice on here and we used blue loctite. Seems to run good. At idle at least . Wife is at work and son is sleeping so I have to wait till tomorrow to test ride

I use two or three or four depending on cyls drill bits to sync carbs works good, some carbs you could use vac gauge.
