I know there are several post on this subject but I am still not poisitve on wehere to measure on this new extended cable. The stock cable pulled apart for measuring but the new one does not. What do I measure to get proper setting? Any PICS?

I have seen another question asked a few times but never answered. Does the Viper oil pump have a indicator mark for idle postion and wot position. If it does, if I were to just line up the indicators would I be ok?

Well if a SPI is like OEM(dunno havent had a spi cable) theres a joint you pull apart amd measure gap, does this spi have that joint??

The old cabl pulled apart where you measured the distance, the new one does not. similar to the link above on gravity works cable. When I set the space to 20mm on the new cable on the adjuster, the throttle will not go to the bar. Abou 3/4 of the way the oil pump hits the stopper.

If I adjust the cable to hit the stopper on the oil pump at wot would that be a safe starting point?

Thanks for the help!

In your situation, I think thats about all you can do to start with. Once you start using the sled you can then calculate your oil consumption and maybe back it off accordingly[there are posts about oil mileage], full travel on the oil pump is as much oil as it can pump...better too much oil then not enough for an initial "Base Line" for adjustment.
I would make sure that the cable is not so tight that it is restricting your full throttle position, you could break/bend the pump lever.

I agree....

You could also figure out the total travel of the stock cable. Let me clarify, if you measure the gap at 20.5mm, add in how far the cable sets inside the adjuster housing(7-8-9mm???).Lets say you total is 28.5(fictional number), now use this measurement to adjust your new style cable by pulling it out of the throttle block and measuring its travel from a seated postion to its extended position.
Where is your adjustment on the new cable, is it at the oil pump? You could do your measuring there if it is.

If someone (damon) can post a picture from the manual of the cables measurement, I can show you what Im talking about.

I also received this oil cable, what did you do for the measurements goathead77? thanks

guys, its super easy, just take a scribe or knife and make a mark on the cable where it fits even with the throttle block, then pull the cable out, and measure

That's how I did the last one, seemed way easier to me.

okay, measure where the cable goes out on the throttle side? I have the cable on but the lever at the oil pump does not go down all the way. It stays like half way and then when I pull the throttle it nearly touches the cable where thread to oil cable mount. that must mean i need more slack?

thank you guys, i get it now. hehe simple but i made it complicating in my mind.
