Hey all...more neewbie questions...so my Viper, the chaincase gasket is just RTV right?

Going to try to do my track swap soon and I have to pull out the drive shaft, which I presume will also include opening up the chaincase too...but I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong on thinking this too.

.

No the chaincase gasket is a one piece rubber gasket...usually reuseable. When you put it back together wet it very lightly with oil then torque up the cover.
If the gasket is damaged at all replace it with a new OEM gasket.

Get a copy of a shop manual...SX,SRX, or Viper will work for removing driveshaft, track ect as in that area they are all the same. Follow the instructions closely. This is also a good time to inspect/replace any bearings or seals that need to be removed.

Yeah I was thinking about that too, that is checking bearings and whatnot. I just checked an on-line micro-fisch and did not see the gasket? But I did not look super carefully either.

Thanks for the tips!
