im having a problem getting my viper rear suspension set up right. i know this has probably been beat to death but i have tried reading the tech pages and i think my a-d-d is getting bad, cant seem to grasp it totally. i need help pointing me in the direction with how to keep my picks out of my rear heat exchanger. any advise where to start.

you got rear protectors?
no. any ideas where i can get some ? i havent been able to find any. i still find it hard to believe as high as the rear is it hits the exchanger. is this normal without protectors ?

yep, on the big bumps, if youre a bigger guy like myself, thats why i went to a sc10III for this year. ive got some nicks in my rear fins. look on ebay for the rear protectors, or put a want ad in the classifieds here
thanks , i got them on my other sled , dont know what would make me think i could get away with out them on this one. maybe th eold lady is right , i need to stop thinking.
ok i found a set of heat exchanger protectors and while searching i saw some people were still having problems with picks hitting thier exchangers. anyhow i picked up my sled and went to go mount my protectors and i cant because it looks like this
so now what am i to do ? thats is why i didnt put protectors on in the first place , i thought thats what was already welded on there.
the protectors i bought i added some material to them so i make sure not to hit the exchanger again as its getting pretty thun in spots.
sorry for the blurry pics.

i've never seen rear protectors like that but then again i do not own a viper. the SRX look like the ones that you purchased and those look like they have extra material already added to the top of them. if you are still concerned after you mount those new ones you can always make up another one and add it between those two for peace of mind. the small ones that are there look to be pretty useless. the nicks in the cooling fins will not hurt anything, you have quite a bit of material before it touches the exchanger itself.

Those look like some track clips welded on there,,, that's funny.....
anyone with an 04 viper that could check out if theirs looks the same ? it looks to be stock , as the welds are pretty mint looking and it appears by the rivets that the exchanger that it has never been out. it looks like ill have to grind off whats there and use the srx ones i picked up. yeah i added some beef to the ones i had picked up cause i read on here that some people where still hittin thier heat exchangers. so i added a extra 1/2 inch to my protectors.
i dont know why the previous owner would have done it i picked it up low milage and without picks.
