has anyone used this service on there srx????? instead of using the viper shocks??

SX, SRX REAR LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION KIT

Greatly improve the ride of your sled without affecting the handling! We take your rear shocks, install new shafts, re-valve them, and change the center shock spring. When we’re done you have the same amount of rear travel as the SX-R & SXViper. The major difference is this kit is designed with more “set-in” on the rear, keeping the rear ride height at nearly stock level when sitting on the sled. The increased travel allows us to keep the spring rates lower, while the longer travel gives the shocks more time to react. This combination gives you a better (plusher) slow speed ride, improves the ability to go through the bumps at higher speed, and increases weight transfer. Send us both of your rear shocks and we install new factory parts. We send them back with all of the necessary parts and instructions for easy installation. Specify year, model, rider weight, and riding style when sending shocks in. After-market control rods are not necessary when installing this kit.

this is just my opinion, but for less than the cost of that kit you can buy an edge or sc10III, have more travel, save weight, get better transfer, and a better ride. again just my opinion. i'm sure that kit will be an improvement but i dont think it will ever be as good as the other skids
 
^^^ I agree anything with the proaction will be an incremental improvement at best with Ohlin shocks being the biggest change.Unless you can find cheap Ohlins I'd put something different under there, but even with the ohlins your dealing with the same geometry and its issues.
 
While I can't disagree with either staggs or the swede, I have been able to dial mine in to where I'm pretty happy.

I purchased an entire Viper skid for the same coin including fresh bushings, shocks and adjustable rods. I may have got lucky as I got it from a member here but you should be able to find a whole skid at half the cost that needs service and shock refreshening and end up paying about the same... plus you'd have spare skid parts on hand.

If I had to do it all over, I'd get a used M10 or edge (due to it's familiarity) and be done with it.
 
i put new from yamaha viper update shocks ( '03 ER ) in my 800sxr & 835srx front & rear. both rode better but not great. tt bruce @ pioneer & he said give them to him & he would revalve. HUGE difference. they both ride great now.

Good point. Proper valving for weight and riding style along with high quality oil can make a big difference. I used to do my own Fox shocks anually until I had Lako do them one year. They'd last nearly two seasons compared to bearly one using Fox oil. He told me it was all in the oil.
 
buy a set of used viper shocks and have them revalved if you wish. If you upgrade your current srx shocks, you'll pay more and only have one set. Your choice. You can then sell your srx shocks to offset the any costs.
 
I had Bruce revalve mine twice and while much better it was still substandard compared to an m-10 or most other oem skidframes.Bruce straight up told me that it would never have compliance like a m-10, even with his valving.
 
I've done this through pioneer too. I actually bought a pair of used shocks right from them and had them redone. Saved shipping mine out and some time too. Not much cost difference. You'll get a spacer for the rods also.
It adds about an inch in height. You get the total travel during dropout over a low area in the bumps. The srx is set up very stiff from the factory which was a killer for me. It'll depend on your wallet and know how. It works for me for now.

i do a lot of lake running. the m10 is excellant....but it scrubs off a lot of top end speed. i've seen as much as 10 mph on a srx. no speed loss w/ the viper shocks.
