does anyone know what the spark plug gap is in a 2004 yamaha sx viper s is? another question. I fogged the engine last spring and I just got the sled started, it starts on one pull but the engine light is on and is running really choppy and is having mis fires. at one point it wouldnt even get any power so I let it idle and it gets it now but is still just running really choppy, it was started for the first time tonight and was idling with me giving it some gas here and their for about 25 min., any ideas?

probably plugs are fouling(that fogging oil is tuff on em),clean carbs with new plugs gapped @ .028 TO .031 I use 30.

My friend told me you can't clean the carbs on it becuase its oil injected or something like that?, its my first sled so sorry if I sound dumb. How do I clean the carbs?, anyone think it might be water in the tank?

your friend sounds dumb for stating something that he obviously doesnt know about, but asking is never dumb, go to the blue bar up top, click on tytech, then snowmobile tech, in there you'll find step by step iunstruction with pics on how to clean carbs, also do a search on powervalve cleaning and adjusting, carbs need done every year, powervalves at least every 1000 miles, also read the srx/viper section if you havent been. lots of info there, search engine here is your best friend

yeah you can clean the carbs on a viper, like any other sled with carbs. If you dont have the know-how to do it yourself, take it to a sled mechanic or get one of your friends/buddies that know how to do it.

thanks guys, another question lol but I took the exaust off to replace a lower a-arm and it seems to have some smoke coming out of ware the ends go in

need to be a little more specific, but i'd guess you need new doughnuts, leaking exhaust is bad for a 2 stroke engine, my advice is to address everything you've been given so far before you ride this anymore or you could very well be rebuilding the engine in the near future

where the pipe fits into the exaust and where the pipe fits into the silencer, the two ends where the pipe fit in, some exaust seems to be coming out of them

i asked my friend about cleaning the carbs and he laughed in my face and said he was joking and was coming over tomarrow haha, he got me on that one.

Where the pipe goes into the silencer needs to be sealed up with high-heat silicon, available at Napa, Auto-zone, etc. It can take quite a while to dry if its very cold, I like to use a heat gun to help speed up the process if I want to run it within the next couple of days.

its no the seals, the exaust isn't lineing up right. If I push in on the muffler it lines up right but when its just resting it doesn't, how do I fix that
