i took my monster out tonight and am seriously impressed. i had an idle problem before but found 2 of 3 pilots were plugged. i cleaned them out and adjusted the fuel screw out 1 3/4 turns. the throttle response was great after that. now tonight i started it up and it was popping thought the exhaust. at one point one of the pipes popped off the flange. now my throttle response is slow and sluggish but once its comes onto the needle and mains it hauls. im pretty sure its a pilot problem. but has anyone been here before? its got 47.5 pilots 152.5 mains and 3rd clip on the needle. do i have to turn the fuel screws in a bit? thanks

Its only suppose to have 42.5 pilots. your probably loading it up with fuel at idle and after idle its no longer on the pilots and thats why it runs so good off idle

Your fuel screws are fine. I actually have mine turned out to 2 turns.

Your also a little fat on the mains. I would jet it to 01 specs 152.5 mains are for a 780 big bore.

150 PTO 148.8 center and mag.

no lake ported. mark giametti ported the cylinders and set it up. it ran fine right after i cleaned them now its doggy. so it can be the size of the pilots im thinking its fuel screws.

for sure the pilots. you can throw alot of fuel at a SRX on the mains and it still wouldnt feel doggy on top end.

I would try the 42.5 pilots. If it seems to hesitate a little bit off idle, turn the screws out to 2 turns. If that doesnt solve it, go to 45 pilots.

but you shouldn't have to go that far on a SRX

thanks for the advice. i really appreciate it but why would it run so good before and now its doggy. before tonight when i opened the throttle it reved quick and came back to idle instantly. i just dont understand what could have changed.

i have learned that carbs do weird things. I hope the leaner pilots will solve your problem. Just trial and error.

you also could have loosened up some crud when you cleaned the carbs that wasnt blocking the circuit at first (when it was running good) but eventually lodged in the pilot circuit, another thing to check

....X2. if it ran good after cleaning, and now its not running so good, it probably got more crap in there, causing some pluggage of the pilot circuit again. if it wouldn't have ran good at all ever, then pilot size could be the issue, but if it ran good at one point or another w/those pilots, i don't think its the size, but rather some cleaning needed again.

ok i went out riding today and it was much better. i readjusted the fuel screws to one turn out (they were 1 3/4) and the throttle response was awesome. must have been to rich? also the clutching engages at 5000 and shoots to just a little over 8000 and stays there with the skis in the air. i love my srx!!!

it doesnt pull to exactly 8500. im using heavy hitters. i had 3.3 grams in heel, 2.6 in the mid, and 8.5 in the tip. today i took all the weight out of the mid just to see what would happen. i made two runs but didnt get to wide open because my bog came back. it sound like its only hitting on one or two cylinders. it ran excellant all moring but this afternoon it wouldnt hardly move at all.

im going to clean the carbs again today. also check float level, reeds, and oil pump cable adjustment. i read someone had a prob with his srx getting to much oil after he reinstalled the airbox so ill check.

problem solved??

i think i may have found my problem. i looked at the oil pump cable and this is what i seen. so if there is no gap does this mean that its just dumping oil into the motor causing it to load up?
