OK, I need some help just to settle my mind.

Locally in the classifieds a guy is selling what I believe to be a 1996 Yamaha Vmax 600. It is the "pogo stick" style front suspension, the chassis style that was used until 1996. He claims it is a 1998 Vmax though, because he "bought it in 1998 brand new"

After 1996 that they went to the newer chassis style starting in 1997 for the Venture, Vmax, etc.

Can you guys confirm for me that the pogo stick chassis was only used up until 1996, and NOT 1998??

I just want to settle my mind.

Maybe I am wrong though?? I sure hope not, I thought I knew my Yamaha snowmobiles.

Look on the side of the tunnel there should be a date of manufacture on it. Hard to argue with that. If it was built in 1995 it's a 1996 .....

They only made the phazer pogo after 1996.

hope that helps.

Actually 1997 was the last year with the V-max 4 800,but yes the last year for the 600's WAS 1996 for the TSS strut suspension,1997 went to the all new designed proaction ,he's got his head up his ars if he's saying it's a '98

Ya, see I was pretty sure the Vmax 4 went for a year longer, but I knew for sure that the Vmax/venture 500/600s were not made past 1996.

He got really angry and told me that I was wrong, and not to comment on something I knew NOTHING about.

I wrote him back, very politely I must say, and said to check the side of the tunnel, and even sent pictures showing a 1996 Vmax 600 compared to a 1998 Vmax 600. All he wrote back was "OK, thanks for the info" LOL

Oh well, never a short supply of idiots out there.

ive walked away from sleds before because hey were like that. #$%&*

There were C.O.O. (Certificates Of Origin) before, actual Titles were used and they looked just like a Title. Left over sleds were many times wrongly registered as the year they were first sold. I have seen people register and license sleds as the wrong year after buying of a private indivual.

The ad has magically disappeared. :hide: LOL

Now I just have to figure out how to deal with the jacka$$ that is trying to buy(steal?) my Vmax that I am selling. I have had enough with idiots for a few days.
