I broke the chain on my SRX and want to replace the gears with a "taller" gear for more bottom end. Has anyone done this and is there a good reference to find out what gears from other sleds will fit the stock shafts, chains, etc. I am not looking to go faster than 90 on this sled. I want more bottom end. I am looking to change gears maybe by 1 or 2 teeth max.

If you are stock your gears are 23T 38B. You can use any combination of gears. Maybe try a 22 top gear or even a 21. Or a 39Bottom 22Top. Thats a 1.77 gear ratio. If you put an ad in the "Wanted" section someone will be able to help you. Or just call your dealer.

Thanks for the reply. I am finding only thin info with my searches.

21/38 sounds pretty close to what I want. It's a one-piece purchase (hopefully) and gives 10% more bottom end and 10% less top end.

One last tech question: how much can I change my gears before going to a shorter chain? Would a stock chain fit a 21/38 (take away 2 teeth overall).

Gotta save money this year.

I'm running 21/40 on a stock chain and it has better bottom end 1.95 gear ratio on my 00 SRX 700 and can still hit 110mph and climbing but that's on the Dream-O-SpeedoMeter

Mine topped out at about 110 stock (23/38=1.65) at 9000 RPM. Wouldnt you be spinning something like 10000 RPM to go 110 MPH with that ratio(21/40=1.9)? You must have some special secondary or something. Confess your secrets so we can all rip past those green machines with our blue streaks!

My plan is to use a 20/38 (1.9 similar to your 1.95) since a chain is cheaper than a bottom gear, so I am hoping my results are the same. If I can still go over 100 with the added bottom end I will be beside myself with happiness.
