2000 SRX 700.Primary has WWW and stock weights with 4.5's in both holes.Secondary has green spring wrapped at 80 degrees and stock helix and a new belt.First time out this year yesterday and it's still spinning 9000 rpm on the fireguard. On hard pack when you pin it it jumps to about 8600 and climbs to 9000.Will extra gram in the outer hole pull me down enough or is there another reason this is turning so fast.Lot's of you guys run this setup just fine. What the hey is gong on?

the snow is to loose yet to test properly. You are over reving right off the hop.Try a stock primary spring and see what happens. What are u engaging at...4000 rpm or higher.

It engages well below 4000 but I was hoping the lighter spring might load the motor a little quicker to keep me in the powerband out of the hole.Seems to have helped a bit but the overrev is pretty bad.I guess to check gearing requires pulling the chaincase cover?

gearing , drive sprockets and secondary tension/ spring rate will all contibute to over /under reving , you really need to know what you got , , example if the gearing ratio is closer to 2-1 the higher it will rev and the " recipe ' w'ont work "

what helix is in there ?
