a friend with a 88 Exciter said he has it flooded BAD!, did not shut the gas valve off and now its blowing all kinds of gas out the plug holes. What is the best way to get the gas out?? should he keep pulling it over till no more blows out?? Will this have any effect on the lower end??? any thoughts would be helpfull

If it's blowing gas out of the vents, it sounds to me like the floats are stuck. Take a screwdriver and a hammer and tap very gently on the float bowl to see if you can un-stick the float.
I had a 87 Exciter that did this quite often...the inlet needles where bad.

I'm concerned about the gas thats in the lower end??
I also think he has a float or needle stuck!
can he just keep pulling it over to pump the gas out??

STOP:
Start with the basics. The fuel pump works on vacuum. When the diaphram breaks, fuel is pulled into the crank case. Pull off the vacuum tube and check that fuel pump. I bent the rod on a phazer for this reason when the engine hydro locked.

choke plungers or seats
Make sure those choke plungers are seated. We had to stretch the springs out and clean the seats.

Turn the ignition key to off. Take the carbs and muffler assembly off the motor. Jack up the rear of the sled as high as you can get it. Pull the rope til it quits spitting out the exhaust. With the exhaust and carbs off the sled, turn on the ignition and see if you can get it to start. You may have to wash the plugs off with Gumout or other carb cleaner to wash the excess oil and gas off. Once it fires let it run til all the gas is gone. It will quit running when this happens. Reinstall carbs and muffler assembly and refire engine while still warm to burn excess fuel and oil out of pipe assembly. You may want to turn pipe upside down to drain off excess fuel from assembly. I had a buddy who did the same thing to his early SRX and this is all I did to get him going. Let us know and good luck.

Well, we hope that the whole thing doesn't go up in smoke. Be sensible. But it does work.

Lighter
I remember a way back my friend pulled the plugs and then held a lighter over the plug hole while I pulled the rope and burned the excess fuel off that way. Put the plugs back in and it fired right up. Kinda wonder sometimes how some people manage to LIVE. Pretty dumb eh!!! Sure looked neat seeing the flame shoot out the plug holes that night.
