hey i went out in the garage to take off the stock exhaust of a 98 700sx. it is the single pipe. got the silencer and pipe off but how do you get the Y connector or 3-1 peice off? i took the 3 bolts off the top then the one to the right side but it still wont come off. so i took 2 smaller bolts off the bottom still no luck. Could it just be because it hasnt been taken off before and the gaskets are holding it in? thanks

I think there is six bolts holding on that manifold (w-pipe) (3 into 1)

ya thats what i did 4 bigger ones that hold only the w-pipe and then 2 that are under it that hold some other thing that has anti-freeze in it i think taht it is for the heat carbs. And it still wouldnt budge. ill mess with it tomorrow i didnt have much time today. thanks

if you look at the relation of the bottom right bolt to the top right bolt, you'll be able to figure out where the other two bottom bolts are. The 3 top bolts are on the left side of each exhaust tube and the bottom 3 bolts are on the right side of each tube. I believe all 6 bolts use an 8mm wrench. You'll scrape the crap out of your wrists trying to get the other two bottom bolts out. It sounds like you loosened your water pump by mistake.

if you took out a smaller one you took out the wrong one, it is the bleeder for the anti freeze in the block. All six are the same size, and 2 on the bottom are hard to see, and even harder to get to. don't leave the bleeder out to long or you will have air in the system, which you probablly already do. you will need to top it off, and watch it close or bleed it. Made the same mistake my first time. Maxdlx
