I bought a xtc 500 for my daughter sled is in great shape. But it falls on its face after you left off the gas. It only does it when you let off all the way from 3/4 throttle or higher. I have been through the carb's twice and found nothing. it runs fine 90 % of the time but every once in a while just sounds like DONG........Dong Dong....... and no throttle response. anyone have any suggestions where else to start looking?

After the tors check your clutches. May be that they are dirty, as I have seen sleds that are only riden at low speeds get crud on the ramps in the secondary and then bind up when driven fast and forced to shift into the crud.

ok your going down the trail 30 or 40 mph crack it open ane let off completly. when you get back into the gas it has zero response like it suddenly goes full choke. Let it settle all the way down to idle rpm and your good to go again. I f you keep it reved up or not let completley off the gas it does not do it. I will try the tors bypass but I always worry that there is something wrong telling it to shut down. I am not familiar witht tors system? is it just for when the throttle is stuck wide open like the old sleds or is it like the dcs system that sense'e detonation and it is protecting the motror? Either way I would like to get to the root cause.
(when yamaha came out with the tors, I was having a brain fart riding skidoo's, lol. last yamaha was a 90 srv then did not buy anther unitl 2004 viper so I missed the whole tors era.)
I really don't feel like it is the clutch. Wouldn't it do it all the time if it was?

easy to check...........just unplug from the carb and plug the wires on the harness side into each other.

it's very likely TORS...

Yes, RPM is limited to 3000 RPM when you are following the USER MANUAL and testing it in the shop with the track up on the stand... (When following these instructions you will NEVER get RPM's above 3000)

In real life, TORS does limit RPM to 3000 only after it has sensed a problem with the two switches involved... We all ride at more than 3000 RPM, it's when we ride that TORS is supposed to protect us.. Not when wer'e testing in the shop...

Check cable adjustments and/or Throttle Free Play Adjustment and/ or check switches.. tj

TORS does also protect us when first starting the sled in the morning... If the carb rack is frozen open (for what ever reason), TORS will activate then too for our own good... tj

sounds like tors. cable to tight? Check that first look at the carb you can see where the contact for the tors is at. either that is not seating fully or on the throttle block is not seating. Pretty simple device shouldnt be a prob.

It was the tors. Bypassed it and bog went away. (until daughter rolled it and broke the handle bars) Anyone have a set of handle bars? LOL (daughter not hurt)

Thanks for the help.
