I was given a 1980 Yamaha SRV 540. I have gone through the machine. I just finished it tonight and took her out for the first time since I have owned it. While it was sitting in my garage I noticed that that I was losing my prime to the fuel pump. While I was out I kept losing my prime as well. I replaced the gaskets in the pump already. Do I have a bad pump or is there another problem? Looking for some help. I have replaced all the fuel lines. I also put a rebuilt kit into the fuel pump. I put all the gaskets and diaphragm in the way the old ones came out.
Thanks.

An update. I took the machine out again I never lost the prime had it out for a few hours. Now what it is doing is in a low speed under 20 mph it cuts out. If you flip the choke it runs ok. In a higher rate of speed it runs great.

Has any one expierenced this before?

I had that problem with my Phazer. I would replace your fuel filter. I believe it's in the tank. Yeah an SRV is different. But the fuel system is kinda the same. If that filter is clogged, your pump is suckin air. I would give that a try.
