Hi guy's it's been a while.
Anyway, My '97 700sx has a spark issue. It starts up cold just fine, Doesn't miss while riding, Goes through about 6 plugs in 100 miles, won't start warm. If I disconnect 1 coil it starts easily on 2 cylinders. Sounds like stator to me. Low speed coil tested 84 ohms. High speed at 434. :o|
Any ideas?

The stator is testing within specs. That is were I'm confused. I will probably buy a new stator but, $300 is a little hard to stomach if that is not what is wrong.

New wires, any two coils can be plugged in and I have awesome spark. Plug a third one in and I can't see any spark at all.
The resistance was tested well below 80deg. I have no way to get it that warm for about six months! I could try warming the engine up and then testing.

got a new stator last year for $153. just pulled out my receipt and went back to the website and they are $226??? WTF the price goes up 75$ in 1 year??? I would go with new. I bought used for $80 and it went out the next season.

I tested the stator again at around 80 deg. still tested within specs. The flywheel was pretty rusty so I cleaned that.
I guess I will test all the wiring and switches next but, this motor has had the same problem in 2 chassis. the only thing I changed with the motor is the cdi.
