That might be another problem you have, but I dont think that will cause the problem you were having I think your stator is on the fritz! It all seems too familiar

Our 99 has similiar problems...we pulled the wiring harness last night...found some wear spots, fixed and everything worked great ~ for a while. Third start of the night the sled died after about 1min....now it wont fire.
Does anyone have a stator they want to sell? Probably best to buy new i guess....
THanks!

my reeds were like that as well. Wasn't causing any problems. I filed the worn petals down to get a straight edge and put them back in like that. It's still well above the seal so it's fine.shawnastleford said:well hear are some pics of the reed valve

well the part that is broke off is above the seal but it is not sealed at all.
none of them are on the one side you can see right inbetween the cage and the petals about 2mm on the middle one and 1 mm on each side. I'm still waiting for the new reeds to come in

well i put the new reeds on and it fixed the sputtering prob. its no longer flooding out the middle cyl.
but there is still the problem of it dieing out. it runs good then just dies like you hit the kill switch. i unplugged the kill switch and it still did it? where should i look?

I just went though this whole thread and still didnt see where you checked the stator? maybe i missed that post

sorry i found how to check it
source coil B/R - Br 412 ohm
source coil Br/R - B 81 ohm
pick up W/R - W/G 194 ohm
so the stator is ok
that wasn't at 20 C it was around 0 C
