Hey has any one put a 51/43 helix on and lost fuel mpg. I put one on my 700 red head pull like a son of a &*^% but i can damn near watch gas gage drop. Also how much dose gears effect speedo I went from a 1.95 to a 1.72

The gear change shouldn't effect your speedo because the speedo drive is after the gearing on the drive shaft. Had the speedo been based on engine rpm or jack shaft revolutions, then it would have been affected. I haven't heard of mpg concerns after switching to that helix. I just installed that on my 700 but not enough riding with it yet to say. I think coles55 or alswagg were running that helix, maybe they or Turk will chime in.

I get 15-16 mpg with all the typical redhead mods and leaner jetting which is 142.5 mains straight acrossed and needles lowered half position. This helped mileage and the sled just ran better overall and rarely backfires which it did quite a bit with stock jetting.Btw I have 39/21 gearing with a 136" ripsaw and I don't think gearing or the track hurt mileage at all.

I have that helix and 22/40 gears, mains at 142.5 and the needle 1/2 lower. I get 14-16 mph. I got about 13-14 before I did these mods. Track is a 121 1" Pred with 96 studs. I love the way that helix backshifts.

if you figure it out let me know!!
I am running 150 mains, 45 pilots 2.0 turns out (was 1.75 but trying to fix a slighlty hanging idle) needle 3 on outside cyl, and 4 on center. 51/43 helix with 89L weights (48grams) with 1x 2.44gram steel weight. (olny one hole on these weights.) this is with Bender Pipes installed.
I took it out the other day and it is unreal how quick it takes off.. (will hang skiis to 70) but I noticed I went through roughly 6 gallons of gas in 45 miles... so maybe it's normal, but it seems like a lot compared to what people are claiming. Or their idea of givin er' is different. But 7.5 MPG seems a tad low.

Just had mine out today. same helix and gears (Turks mods), stock carb jetting. 5 gallons for 60 miles on wooded and exremely hilly terrain. Same economy I was getting prior to the mods.

It's the triple pipes... everyone I know that runs pipes gets worse mileage, than I do with the stock pipe.

I have an 2003 SXR 600 that seems to be getting very poor mileage. It sucked down twice as much gas as my RX1 in the same trail, difference was my girlfriend gentley driving the SXR.
Would lowering the clip on the needle help? Or any other tricks short of buying stuff?
