Fuel Screw Adjustment Question

So I fired my 01 Sxr700 up from storage, rode it a a 1/4 mile in real light snow, and everything seemed ok. The sled ran great when I put it away last season and in general I have had no driveability problems ever.

Just for the sake of preventive maintenance, I decided to clean the carbs. This was my first time doing this procedure.
Following instructions in the tech pages, I removed them, cleaned them. (they were actually very clean already) All went well and I am pleased with my new found carb cleaning skills.

Question is about the fuel screw settings. Followed the procedure, bottomed them out and counted the turns. However the number of turns on each one was a little different, 1.5, 1.5+ , and 2 turns. I returned them to where I found them, uneven. Should they all be exactly the same, should I go back and make them all 1.5 turns? If so I want to do it now before reinstalling the airbox and cables.

Also will it be mandatory that I now have the carbs sychronized now? I dont have the tools (gauges)to do this myself, so I will need to take the sled to someone and get it done. Thanks for your help.
 
Tech pages say 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated on all 3. I would just crack the throttle and make sure the carburetor slides are moving the same amount for all 3 at the same time and they all return to the same position. I usually use a pencil and slide it in pointed side under the middle slide until it hits the pencil and mark where it was on the pencil. Then I check it with the other two slides.
 
i would set them all the same 2turns its good to check sync but not manditory once there set they dont change much if at all while in use, usually just when disassembled
 
I agree, 2 turns across. These carbs are on a rack(hooked together) so they usually don't go out of sync. The books say 1.5 turns. But, I haven't had or seen one yet that will run at that setting. Do a search on pilot screws, there is a ton of info here. Real curious on the staggard pilot screw settings. Is this motor all stock? Soc
 
did you have a idle hang problem at all before? they should be the same across like said above,as far as syncing them, i do but usually there close from factory and not needed,i'm just anal.

I did measure the slide height when they were closed and they were all the same.

In previous seasons, I have not had idle hang. When I took it for the first short ride (10 min.) this year, it did "hang" a few times but by the end of the ride it seemed to stop hanging.

I not really sure if it is all stock or not. I did note that the pilot jet was 45, and main was 145, stock. The sled has vforce reeds (or at least a sticker) and a heavy studded track so I dont know what else the PO did.

So I ended up setting them 2 full turns out, then backing off just a little, so I am probably like 1 7/8. (I had checked the plugs and thought it might be running a little rich). Fired it up and took it for a short spin, seems good. Have not run it wide open yet. Thanks for your relies.
 
We have been setting all our redhead 700s at about 1 7/8, seems to work good, 1 1/2 seemed to give us a bog when you pinned it from a stop.
 
I have mine (99 SX 600) set to 2 turns out and it bogs a little bit pinned from a stop. From a stop if you rev it up and get it going and then roll into the throttle a little bit and then punch it, it goes like a mofo.
