Went for our maiden voyage today. My buddies 91 exciter 2 was running like a top. Then no power, she just died. First thought was burned down but not the case. Turns out we have no spark at all. Everything else works, electric start, headlight comes on when trying to start. The kill switch is suspect as it does not move freely up and down. Where would be a good place to start with tracking this down. I'm thinking kill switch??. It ran perfect and just quit, no spark. Coil, ect...... Thanks guys for any help. Chris

Sounds like the T.O.R.S system has failed. Find the connector at the wire harness and plug the 2 wires together. This infomation is included in your owners manual.

We thought of that but the torrs is already unpluged. I dont think it can still cause a problem unpluged can it??

you must loop the wire on the harnes side. TORS controls the ground for your ignition.

Done that 2. I Understand the tors very well, i refuse to run mine without them. The carb side and harness side are pluged back into each other. usually a tors problem can be fixed with cable adj. but this is diff i know. Any other thoughts!!! or am i missing something about the tors???

plugging the harness side of the tors together bypasses all of the tors system. The ignition system is seperate from the lights and starter. You will have to troubleshoot the ignition.
You can remove the hadlebar cover and unplug the kill switch if you have TORS bypassed. Remove the black/white (color code not verified, but that is the Yam norm B/W) wire from the connector at the CDI and you have removed all of the spark killing components of the ignition system. You will need a special tool to remove the pin from the plastic block.
REMOVE THE BELT before attempting to start any machine you have disabled the kill switch and TORS!!!
