assembling 2002 viper

I am rebuilding my 2002 SX viper and there are 12 short bolts and 6 long bolts on the head and I am not sure which is which. When I look at the parts breakdown it doesn't show a pattern. I can't tell by looking at the threads in the cyclinders. Feel kind of stupid. Also, is the head gasket directional?

The 6 long bolts go across the center-line of the head. The head gasket "is" directional for correct cooling....

That's what I thought but looking at the parts breakdown they showed one of the long ones out of line and I know it is too long to up towards the exhaust as they show.

How do you determine the direction on the head gasket?
