These were from yesterdays ride. River riding with 6" on fresh snow on top, temps about 20F. The sled ran strong other that a few blips from the DCS at high RPM's. Mostly rode 50 to 70MPH for up to 1/2 hour or so each way. RPMs seemed a little high but that i dont know. was getting 6500 to 7500RPM at these speeds. When i would really get on it it climbed to 9000 and the DCS would blip and i let off (happend X2.) I also used a half tank of gas (70 miles total) so MPG is about 15 which i though was great, but i used about 2qt of oil which seems really high. Set oil cable at 20MM right now. Ran 93 octane, no old gas was left at fill. Ok now the questions:
1) Any CPR guys know if the RPM's sound right. Ask if you need more info!! With reading if the engine loads up to much it will set off the DCS.
2) From reading that is way to much oil usage, should i lean out the oil or leave where is but not sure how my plugs look. Or if this has anything to do with it.
3) How do plugs look. PTO and mag are almost black and center is light tan. Why so different? Should i check carbs again as center might be a tough lean?
Thanks a ton guys, still learning. The sled is a 04 viper s. CPR triples with v force 3 reeds, heavy hitter clutch kit. Jetting is PTO, center 160/47.5. MAG 162.5/50. Sorry for the long post and all the question just want to get this sled perfect.

Oil useage seems quite high...that would be 4qts/tank!!! That much oil useage would definately lean out your fuel mixture and was probably the reason for your DCS flashes.
Reading the plugs is difficult with the kind of oil burn you are having.
Suggestions:
-did you install a different pump cable or bar risers?
-check for oil leakage from lines, pump, or cracked tank
-check your oil cable + pump linkage for any kind of binding or something that would cause the pump to be at that high of a flow rate
- recheck your oil pump cable settings, it should never need to be adjusted outside of stock specs and a mm eitherway is not going to make the kind of oil useage issues you have

I did istall a 2" bar riser and i made sure the cable had no hang ups. When i first got the sled the cable was at 23-23 MM. I did readjust it to spec at 20. I know 20 is on the rich side, but i guess spec's kinda change with mod's? Should i just put the cable back to where it was and see if anything changes? According to my manual it has a 3.2qt tank and there is about a 1/3 of it left. I know this doesnt change things a lot cause im still using too much oil. Thanks for the help.
If everything else checks out...go back to where it was set. It must have been on the lean side of the stock oil pump setting specs for a reason.

2.56 oz of oil per gallon to get 50:1 mix. Any more than a quart per 12 gallon tank is over kill. Last year I needed to bring my gap down to 18mm to get enough oil in the SRX. I have been getting in the habit of checking how much oil I add with a measuring cup and compare to the gas receipts.
I think Daman has a nice guide for setting your cable gaps. On my 98 V-Max I had huge oil consumption all of a sudden, and all I had to do was adjust the throttle cable gap back to (don't quote me on this) 2mm? Any more and your TORS will stop you from running the sled. Now with you adding a 2" riser, it is very important to recheck all of your gaps. I would never have guessed my fix could have been so simple, but the throttle and oil cables need to work on the same page.

I'm adding extended cables and have a similar question; Even though the oil cable is not OEM, I still set the adjuster to 20-22 MM? There should be no difference between cables right?

well who knows you would think there the same but all you can do is check it,set to spec and run her,1 qt to 12 gals(tank of fuel) is goal.Spaz's SRX said:I'm adding extended cables and have a similar question; Even though the oil cable is not OEM, I still set the adjuster to 20-22 MM? Well got the oil problem fixed. I put the cable back to 22mm and it seems right on. I burned just shy of a half tank of gas and burned just a tad over a 1/2qt of oil. Not one flash from the DCS either and i got on it pretty good a few times. Plugs look better. Mag still a little black/dark but the other 2 are nice and tan. The center is a hair lighter than the PTO plug. Why would i be seeing a diff in color between the 3 plugs? The center worries me a bit but im still new at this so just checking. What if anything should i do for it?

different jetting on the cylinders is possible, and also a difference in the temperaturs of the thre cylinders.
