cleaned carb three times and it still needs the choke to get going but runs good on top end.would it do this if the float is to low? its the only thing i did not check. help

I would check your pilot screw. Its the screw on top of the carb near the engine. Start it up. have someone keep the throttle open to keep the motor running, then screw your pilot all the way. if it dies don't panic. Back it out two full turns. Then ride it! Hopefully this helps. good luck

i un screwed the mixture screw like 4 times and it helped a lot but i still have a very slight bog. i can not see how to adjust idle on this carb.any body have any help 4 me. thanks

As far as I know, on these old yammies if you have to screw out your pilot screw more than two times then its time to get a bigger pilot jet. Thats just from experience.

The pilot screw on these carbs is an air screw. It mixes air with the pilot fuel. The fuel is controled by the pilot jet in the bowl. ALL the passages for the air and fuel MUST be clean in order for the pilot circut to work properly. Air box mods and/or removal will have a great effect on it's operation.

Double check your cleaning of ALL the carb the passages, get the air box on right and used the factory setting for the pilot jet and screw. It should be very close with only a minor tweaking of the pilot screw (1/2 turn either way at most).

Good Luck,
Phil (opsled)
