I have an 87 Bravo... runs for a short time then dies... plug is dry let it sit and choke it it will fire and run again does this sound like a fuel pump problem?

The gaskets on this carb are not the generic Mic gaskets. Most carb problems are the rebuilder using aftermarket Mic rebuild kits
I did not verify that the 87 uses a different pumper carb then early years.

I mis spoke The later Bravo uses a Keihin butterfly carb. Your et 250 has the carb I was thinking of.
The 87 uses a 3 bolt fuel pump. The standard rebuild kit will work.
The other thing to check would be the fuel filter. The fuel filter is the screw on piece at the bottom of the tank, that the fuel line connects to.
