I'm looking to do a ground up build. I'm trying to score a prefect '83 from a guy in town, or find one else where if I can't get that one. If all else fails, my buddy has a later '80's one I can have.
So, first off, I have questions about the front suspension. I have read on here in the past, and saved the threads, but now I can't find what I'm wanting. I would like to know which pogos have the most travel. I was thinking it was from a two-up, but I can't remember. Also, where do I find a kit, or how do I make brackets to widen the front suspension?

Yamaha never made a "POGO" suspension but, they did make a TSS.
The 540 has to be widened to ~41" ski center in order for the longer Strut towers to clear the hood !
The front Struts from the 1994-96 Vmax 5-600cc sleds will give you 2" more travel ! You need the longer shock covers, springs and aluminum knuckles along with the struts. You can find them fairly reasonable on E-bay, any parts forum or salvage yards ! Yamaha GYT Kit struts were an upgrade for the Vmax 5-600 sleds with adjustable dampening, rebound and slightly Yamaha part # SMA-8CA91-10-00
