My sled is all over the trail when im riding. I can feel the track sliding side to side on the trail and my friends say my back end is all over the place. It only happens when im riding on straight aways at higher speeds. I imagine it is a suspension issue. What is causing it and how do i fix it?

thanks

check to see if rail is broke...check lower shock mount ...and check w arn see if its broke ....has it always been this way or just start ...could need limiter straps adjusted

It is more than likely a broken "W" arm in the front torque arm of your rear suspension. Can be hard to spot.. That will cause to ride like it has a flat tire.. I ahve a 2000 SXr 7000 and had the same problem. Pulled the skid, welded teh torque are that was broke all the way through.

I had this and now I don't so you'd think I could tell you how to fix it, right? I can't because I never arrived at one particular cause. My first atempt was shimming the rubber on the ski's. The theory (not mine) is that your ski is "forward biased". That means that there is more weight on the front of the ski than the back. This causes the ski to plow and so your back end tries to drive around it. I shimmed with a wedge 1/4" at the back.
The second thing I did was to stud the track and install carbides on the ski's. If you call cb performance, they can tell you what carbide works with the studding you plan or have already. You can't just mix and match.
The third thing was to go through my suspension and return all settings to stock. This was done at the same time that I freshened up the bushings and reinforced my "W" arm. Additional adjustments were necessary, but at least I started off with known stock settings as the previous owner had played with everything.

ondatrail has the right idea. i would try the ski shim 1st as we just had to do my dad's sled down in muni as that is what it was doing when trail riding.

has it always been like this or is this a brand new issue ?

too much ski pressure , will cause it to fish tale and will be more noticable in loose conditions than firm ...

if it has always been like that try this

1-loosen spring on front shocks
2- tighten front skid shock
3-let limiters out
4-loosen spring on rear shock
5- tra setting to middle or soft

******small adjustments @ a time ******
