i have srx with a viper no action skid, has rebuild-able rear shock. looking to get a more plusher ride, will the ohlin make that much of a difference or should i just get it revalved? I know ohlins are awesome, is it worth upgrading the pro action or swap the skid. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks! 

Many have swapped out the rear skid and replaced the Pro Action with other skids on their Vipers.
Because I don't want to change skids, I have just acquired Ohlins rear and center shocks, custom made for my Mnt Viper. I'm betting the difference will be night and day. They will be lighter than the steel bodied non-rebuildable KYB shocks that came on it stock, also. As soon as I get them installed, I'll give a report!
To save cash, the key is to look around and find good used shocks that will fit your sled. Then send them out to be revalved/re-sprung if need be to comport with your machine and riding style.
TY member Gild has a great set up on his skid, using a Fox Float on the rear and an Ohlins on the Center shock, if I'm recalling correctly. It look sweeeeeet.....

I used to have the ohlins rear prc shock It was night and day difference. Now I have and edge skid and will never go back.
By the time u get good used shocks and rebuild-revalved,,, u can UP GRADE to a different skid and be much happier in the trails to come... at a lower cost....

I tried the Ohlins on the front end and even with Viper Trailing arms I can't keep enough ski pressure to stop from going downhill. Revalving made them softer but worse for ski pressure. No I won't tighten my limiter cause the Proaction works well the way it is. Going back to the Fox Floats, they are more height adjustable and plusher I can get that extra inch I need The rear skid rides and transfers great.

For the price, time and effort a Ohlins shock it the rerar will make a huge difference in ride. Had one in the rear on my SX700 when I upgraded it to the long travel last winter and it was nite and day.
Just upgraded the sx to a m-10 skid to match the one in my srx700. Couldnt' pass on the deal from Team Fast...they are only 4 blocks from house. If you want to upgrade the whole skid at a higher price...NOTHING beats a M-10

So they ride nicer with the M-10 but how does it affect the cornering through the twisties?

I had a M 10 and it did work well but set up for the Mnts it was not a good trail sled and visa versa too much a pain to adj each ride.It was heavier then my proaction and expensive to boot . It was a 151 Live Rear Axle with Ohlins.

Have not had to go from mountain to trail, but once it is setup for the type of riding your doing. The only adjustment you have to make, if any, is to the FRA and thats optional. On my sx the girlfriend drives, I do not do any adjustments to that m-10.
On the one in my srx I have the jack in it and if I want to go from a nice easy cruz'n plush ride, to riding aggresive thru the ruff stuff, it takes a whole 30 seconds on the trail to adjust. VERY simple to do, just crank the handle a few times.
As for weight, the standard m-10 is only 62lbs. I put a Airwave shock in the rear of mine and my skid came in at 57lbs. Now I did not weigh the proaction, but just from lifting it felt heavier then either of the m-10's I've put in.

As for cornering, I did loose a little of that on rails feel due to a little ski lift in the tight corners, but nothing that really slows it down. The ride has MORE than made up for it.
Saturday I did a 98 mile loop and the last 15 or so were on a section one of the local clubs have not groomed and it was bad. This would have been a gut pounder if not for the m-10. As it was, I was able to slowly make my way pass a mix of newer sleds in comfort.

I love Gild's set up. Man, it's nice!!!!!! I'm emulating his, but with Ohlins center and rear. My front shocks are Fox Floats set at 65-70 psi.....
My Ohlins center and rear shocks are on their way back from Carver (for revalve and respring in rear shock), set for more "float" from the skid. I can't wait for them to get here and be installed!!!!
