Who knows the story behind the SSR with the 82 500 engine in it? on N W Vintage Snowmobiles web site? The ssr has had the tunnel cut for deep snow.
Who owns this I have contacted the site but get nothing back?

Go to NW vintage sleds look at the Yellowstone pictures . I dont know who or why, someone would do this to a ssr. What a shame,, at least it doesnt have a rotax in it.

Yes, it is a shame to do that to a SSR. But in the "world of customs" beauty is in the eye of the builder.
ROTAX in a SSR is a crime - I had a really hard time giving my suport to the ssr with the 340 rotax in it at Eagle River last week. Very nice sled, well driven.. but the inner battle between it being a Enno Clone, and a Rotax...... it was ALMOST too much for me to handle

link!?

hi !
cant find where to see the SSR that was modded/cut !-please post link!?

If you go with the 8A8 340cc yami engine to the race, you are out, simply course not enough ponys! -thats it!
...-you cant really blame the poor SSR guy to want a podium finish!

the SSR with the cut tunnel and the SRX500 engine was Wayne Ford's and it was the first sled over the top of the mountian at Jackson Hole. This sled is a great historical sled just as it is. With out the modifications made to it it would not of achieved what it did So I am very happy it was modified so that it could be the First over the top !
As far as Marks SSR at eagle river If I'm going to put all that money into a sled to make it competive for the IFS class I would do the same There is NO WAY a SRX 340 will ever put out the H.P. that the rotax does. And with his being a clone no oriiginal SSR will be used up racing. Believe me there is NO bigger YAMAHA snowmobile fan than myself but what Mark is doing with his Clone SSR Just makes GOOD racing sence ! One other thing is that it is the only Yamaha SSR out there putting a show on for the Yamaha Fans
Just my 2 cents worth

This post has nothing to do with Mark, I did not even know he switched his motor. I do not follow the oval stuff. A 340 srx will make nearly 100 hp if done correctly.

8A8 power

Please inform what mod will make the 8A8 engine make almost 100hp!?
- a friend of mine are about to make a oval srx 340 -76 for next season!.
-he need power!-please help!?

Ditto all that but there would be no benefit to putting an SRX 500 motor in it over using the SSR motor. He probably didn't have the stock motor or wanted to save it. I remember back when that was done and still have the Snow Week with the picture and the writeup in it.

Thanks for the input Leon. The fact the sled is the "first over the top" is really cool.
Marks sled was fast and competive - took a 3rd didn't he?
I heard more than one person say it was GREAT to see a Yami out there. As it just added to the mix. Racin is Racin and I understand, but a Rotax.... Darn it!
But then again - that is what it take to run in that class......

I am all for clones out there racing. I would much rather see a clone than a original get all beat on or hacked up rather than an original. I've tried to keep my little SR292 as close to original as possible - just a bit of a purest i am.
